Description

1878-S Ten Dollar, AU58
Elusive Low-Mintage Issue

1878-S $10 AU58 NGC. Only 26,100 Liberty eagles were struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1878, making the issue scarce-to-rare in all grades today. This impressive near-Mint example exhibits well-detailed design elements that show just a trace of wear on the high points, and lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces that retain much original mint luster. Census: 26 in 58, 5 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 265L, PCGS# 8682, Greysheet# 9487)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
