Sharply Defined

1879 $10 MS64 PCGS. The 1879 ten dollar, with its generous mintage in excess of 380,000 pieces, is readily located in circulated grades. Even Mint State coins through MS63 can be found without too much difficulty. Near-Gems, on the other hand, are elusive and higher-grade specimens are virtually unobtainable. This sharply defined example has soft, frosted mint luster and minimal abrasions. The obverse is peach-gold, with deeper reddish-gold patina on the reverse. Population: 6 in 64, 2 finer (3/11).(Registry values: N4719)
