Description

1879 Eagle, MS65
Only One at PCGS, Just Two Finer

1879 $10 MS65 PCGS. A substantial mintage of 384,740 coins suggests that collectors should have no trouble finding a nice example of the 1879 Liberty ten at any time. However, that is far from the case as survivors, when they are encountered, tend to be in lower grades. The average certified grade of this issue is only about AU55.
This impressive Gem is a coin of extraordinary beauty. The surfaces are pristine with brilliant light yellow luster and faint traces of rose toning. There are few marks of any kind, and the strike is bold with virtually full design definition. Population: 1 in 65, 2 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 265M, PCGS# 8683, Greysheet# 9400)
