Description

1879-CC Eagle, Conditionally Rare AU53

1879-CC $10 AU53 NGC. Variety 1-A. The only known variety. The population reports indicate that most survivors fall in the Very Fine to Extremely Fine range, with a few in the About Uncirculated category. The AU53 example we offer here is bright golden-orange, with slightly deeper shades of copper-golden color in the area around the design elements. The devices are generally nicely struck, particularly on the reverse. On the obverse, some of Liberty's hair curls and a few of the star centers show slight softness, as usually seen. A few minute circulation abrasions are noted. Census: 5 in 53, 8 finer (11/13).(Registry values: N7079)
