Description

1879-CC Liberty Head Eagle, XF40
Lowest Mintage of the CC Series

1879-CC $10 XF40 NGC. Winter 1-A. The 1879-CC Liberty eagle boasts the lowest mintage of any Carson City gold coin, at 1,762 pieces. It is possibly the second-rarest Carson City eagle, behind only the extremely rare 1870-CC, and PCGS CoinFacts estimates only 45 to 60 examples are extant in all grades today. The present coin is a moderately circulated example of this rare issue, with bright yellow-gold surfaces and the expected number of minor abrasions for the grade. Census: 10 in 40, 21 finer (11/25).
