Description
1879-CC Ten Dollar, XF45
Low 1,762-Piece Mintage
1879-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. Winter 1-A. The 1879-CC eagle
features an impressively low mintage of only 1,762 pieces -- the
lowest output of any gold coin produced at the Carson City Mint. It
is possibly the second-rarest Carson City eagle, behind only the
extremely rare 1870-CC. This luminous example shows only a single
relevant mark, a thin obverse line below star 3. Vibrant
orange-gold surfaces retain significant mint luster that provides
pleasing eye appeal for the grade. One could say the 1879-CC is not
only a formidable rarity among all Carson City gold issues, it is a
key to the entire ten dollar gold series. PCGS Population: 14 in
