1879-S $10 MS61 NGC. The high mintmark variant. Sharply struck and satiny with generally smooth honey-gold surfaces. The 1879-S is the earliest S-mint issue readily available in Uncirculated grades, though it is scarce relative to successors such as the 1881-S. Census: 64 in 61, 15 finer (1/14).
