Description
1879-S $10 AU 58 Prooflike ANACS. This example would be apt to fool most casual observers, as at first glance it appears to be a slightly impaired proof. When one realizes that this is, however, an S-mint product, one is astounded by the depth of the reflectivity in the fields. The surfaces are moderately abraded with slight wear on the highest points, and display flashy golden-orange luster. The strike is bold for the issue. A special coin, certainly among the first from a new pair of dies.
