Description

Challenging Near-Gem 1880 Ten Dollar

1880 $10 MS64 PCGS. After decades of slumbering, mintages of Liberty eagles soared in 1880. The 1880 was the first issue with a mintage above 1 million pieces, a level surpassed by the first-year 1850 double eagle. Nonetheless, the 1880 ten dollar is rare at the MS64 level due to non-numismatic handling and storage. The present near-Gem is well struck, lustrous, and beautifully preserved. The reverse is nearly immaculate. Population: 14 in 64, 0 finer (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)
