Description

1881 Ten Dollar, MS64+
Essentially Unavailable Any Finer

1881 $10 MS64+ PCGS. This mass-produced Philadelphia issue is widely available through the Select grade level, but it becomes deceivingly rare in MS64. Plus-designated near-Gems are extremely rare but often the only option for those looking to assemble the finest set possible, as there are merely three submissions finer, one at PCGS and two at NGC (11/15). Understandably, Gems are tightly held, and our records show a single auction appearance 20 years ago. This Condition Census Liberty Head eagle has light rose-gold surfaces with coruscating mint frost. A bold strike and minimal field chatter add to the appeal.(Registry values: N1793)
