Rare 1881-O Ten, MS 61
1881-O MS 61 NGC. A rare O-mint, one of just 8,350 pieces struck, most survivors are in the VF to XF grade range. A mint state example is extremely rare with only 4 examples thus far graded by NGC (11/95), no uncirculated specimens have been certified by PCGS. This is the second finest known with a single MS 63 being the highest. The surfaces are covered with some milky-gold patina and the obverse has a reflective quality as the coin is tilted under a light. Some contact marks and normal abrasions are noted and account for the grade, but none overly detract. An opportunity for the gold specialist.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 265Y, PCGS# 8693, GSID# 9495)
