Description

Conditionally Scarce 1881-S Eagle, MS63

1881-S $10 MS63 ICG. The 1881-S is yet another gold dollar that is easily located in circulated grades, but becomes scarce in Mint State. In fact, no examples have been certified finer than the present piece by either NGC or PCGS (7/08). Enticing semiprooflike fields exude bright luster beneath the pleasing yellow-gold patina. The details have above-average sharpness and there are no marks worthy of individual mention. (Registry values: N2998)
