Description

1882-CC Eagle, AU55
Conditionally Elusive

1882-CC $10 AU55 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2-A. Misplaced date digits are hidden in the obverse dentils at 6 o'clock. While designated as Variety 2-A, this is the only known die pair for the 1882-CC eagles, as it is thought to be the early die state of the 1-A combination. Although a number of AU examples survive from the 6,764-coin mintage, higher level examples are scarce, and Mint State pieces are rare. Housed in a green-label PCGS holder, this Choice AU representative exhibits nearly full luster with frosty surfaces and excellent design definition on the devices. A few trivial copper toning spots are inconsequential. Population: 24 in 55, 24 finer. CAC: 6 in 55, 10 finer (1/18).
