Extraordinary 1882-CC Eagle, AU58

1882-CC $10 AU58 NGC. Variety 2-A. A misplaced date shows the tops of two 8s in the border dentils. An extraordinary 1882-CC gold coin with traces of wear on the highest design points. This piece has nearly full luster with rich green-gold color. The surfaces have a few faint lines and abrasions, but also exhibit evidence of original mirrored surfaces in the protected areas. NGC has only certified four finer pieces, including two in MS61, one in MS62, and a single amazing MS66 Prooflike piece. PCGS has never certified a Mint State example. Over the years we have handled a number of similar AU58 coins, but have never offered a Mint State piece in our auctions. This is an incredible opportunity for the advanced collector.
