    1882-S Liberty Eagle, MS65
    Tied for Finest Certified

    1882-S $10 MS65 NGC. The 1882-S Liberty eagle is an underrated issue from a smallish mintage of 132,000 pieces. The 1882-S was widely used in international finance, and many of the pieces in today's market come from European holdings. These coins tend to be unworn, but they usually show excessive bagmarks, making the date extremely rare at the Gem level.

    The present coin is a delightful Gem, with vivid orange and copper-gold surfaces that show a few minor contact marks and alloy spots on the obverse. The design elements exhibit razor-sharp definition throughout, with partially prooflike luster and tremendous eye appeal. This coin is the single-finest certified example at NGC and is tied with one other coin at PCGS for the title of finest certified (9/14)
