Description

1883-CC Eagle, AU58
Variety 2-C

1883-CC $10 AU58 NGC. Variety 2-C. The obverse has die lumps at star 13, and the reverse features a narrow mintmark with both letters over the uprights of the N in TEN. While there is no accurate census data on the individual varieties, only a small number of pieces are finer than this near-Mint representative. In fact, NGC has only certified five finer for all varieties, and PCGS has seen four Mint State pieces. The fields of this pleasing yellow-gold eagle have numerous trivial marks. A trace of wear is noted, with slight weakness of the strike in the usual places. A splendid piece for the advanced collector. Census: 14 in 58 (1 in 58+), 5 finer (9/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2667, PCGS# 8700, Greysheet# 9500)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
