Description

1883-CC Eagle, AU58
Underrated and Conditionally Rare

1883-CC $10 AU58 PCGS. Variety 1-A. Ex: Rian's Bequest. Rusty Goe suggests the 1883-CC eagle (12,000 coins struck) is scarcer than the certified population totals indicate. He estimates only 150 to 200 pieces survive in all grades and writes: "If the desired grade is AU-58 or one in the Mint State realm, more patience and a longer waiting time are absolute necessities."

Here is a terrific opportunity to pick up a high-end borderline-Uncirculated representative. Still-frosty surfaces exhibit orange-gold color with pale lavender accents and minimally scattered abrasions. The stars, feathers, talons, and fletchings show strong detail. Friction is practically unseen. Population: 18 in 58 (2 in 58+), 7 finer (11/21).
