Description

The Finest Known 1883-CC Ten-Dollar

1883-CC MS 60 PCGS. An important condition rarity among Carson City tens. The '83-CC is a high R.7 in mint state with an estimated 4-5 pieces known, but only this and another MS 60 (graded by NGC) have been certified in mint state. This is the #1 coin listed on the Winters-Cutler condition census for Carson City gold. As with all the coins in Warren Miller's collection, originality is important, and it is especially evident on this piece. The surfaces show even, reddish-golden color with a significant overlay of gray patina on each side. Well struck and minimally abraded, a couple of tiny marks are evident in the reverse field just left of the eagle's left (facing) leg.
Purchased at the 1993 ANA Convention.
