Description

1883-O XF 40 Brushed. One of the best known rarities in the series of With Motto tens and a date that marked the beginning of a five-year hiatus for New Orleans eagles, its production having dipped to a mere 800 pieces. As a result, the '83-O has the lowest mintage of any O-mint eagle. It only trails the 1875 and 1873 for the lowest mintage in the entire Coronet series. This piece still keeps some of its original prooflikeness, despite twenty points of wear and the surface impairment, and is well struck except for a few normally weak obverse stars.
