Description

Low Mintage 1884-CC Liberty Head Eagle, AU53

1884-CC $10 AU53 NGC. Variety 1-A. The 1884-CC Liberty Head eagle is a scarce issue from a tiny mintage of just 9,925 pieces. The date is prized by Western gold specialists, and most examples seen are in VF to XF grades. Doug Winter estimates a surviving population of 125 to 150 specimens in all grades. The present coin is lightly struck, as almost always seen on this issue. Only light, even wear is present on the attractive reddish-gold surfaces. Handling marks are minimal for the grade. Census: 27 in 53, 82 finer (10/09).(Registry values: N2998)
