Description
Sharply Struck AU 53 1884-CC Ten--Very Rare As Such
1884-CC AU 53 PCGS. An atypical example of this moderately scarce CC ten. The usually seen coin is heavily abraded, weakly struck, and XF or lower in grade. This piece breaks all those rules. The surfaces are smooth with virtually no abrasions on either side. The coin is really quite remarkable in this regard. Also, the striking details are exceptionally strong with good details on the hair curls of Liberty as well as the eagle's plumage. The grade is solid as well with fair portions of mint luster surrounding the devices. Quite scarce in AU or mint state with only 18-23 pieces believed known today, making this a High to Mid R.6 issue in AU.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 266B, PCGS# 8704, GSID# 9503)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 16.72 grams
