Description

Scarce 1885 Liberty Eagle, MS63

1885 $10 MS63 NGC. Before the discovery of a few European minihoards in recent years, the 1885 eagle was considered rare in Mint State. Owing to the repatriation of the small overseas holdings, a handful of Uncirculated examples are now available to collectors. The current coin is one of only 22 Select MS63 specimens seen by NGC, with a mere 11 coins of this date grading finer (5/09). The fields are bright with a confirmed reflectivity on each side. Sharply defined throughout with even, rich orange-gold color.
