Description
Conditionally Elusive 1886-S Eagle MS64
1886-S $10 MS64 PCGS. This issue would seem to be underrated at the MS64 grade level, based upon a cursory examination of population data from the two major coin grading services. NGC and PCGS together have certified 371 examples at MS63 (including any possible resubmissions). At MS64, however, both companies have graded a mere total of 17 coins, with none finer! This attractive near-Gem is well struck and lustrous, with pleasing yellow-gold and rose coloration. Minor marks, mainly on the obverse, define the grade. PCGS Population: 8 in 64, 0 finer at either service (7/07). (Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 266G, PCGS# 8709, Greysheet# 9506)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
