Description

1887 Ten Dollar, MS62
Significant Condition Rarity

1887 $10 MS62 NGC. CAC. Half eagles and double eagles were the preferred denominations in commerce, putting the damper on ten dollar gold mintages. The 1887 Liberty eagle claims a business-strike mintage of 53,600 pieces and the issue is a major rarity in MS63 condition. This attractive MS62 example is sharply detailed in most areas including the obverse stars. The lustrous orange-gold surfaces show fewer than the expected number of marks and abrasions. Lustrous orange-gold surfaces offer bold eye appeal as confirmed by the coin's CAC endorsement. Census: 12 in 62, 4 finer. CAC: 4 in 62, 1 finer (8/24).(Registry values: N2998)
