Description

1888-O Ten Dollar, MS63
Low Mintage New Orleans Issue

1888-O $10 MS63 NGC. Variety 1. The New Orleans Mint struck only silver dollars between 1884 and 1887, but during 1888 the facility managed to produce 21,335 gold coins, all Liberty tens. Most survivors are in AU or low Mint State grades, due to indifferent storage and shipment. But the present orange-gold Select example is well struck and satiny with fewer than the usual number of obverse field abrasions. Census: 12 in 63, 0 finer (2/19).
