    1889-S Liberty Ten, MS65
    Single Finest Certified
    First Public Offering of a Gem Specimen

    1889-S $10 MS65 PCGS. From a mintage of 425,400 pieces, the 1889-S Liberty eagle is not too difficult to locate in lower circulated grades but Choice examples are rare and the present coin is the single finest certified example at either of the leading grading services. Writing of this coin in 2006, Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth remarked:

    "MS-64 examples are very rare and the finest certified example is a single PCGS MS-65 coin, which has yet to appear on the market."


    We can find no auction appearance of this piece since 2006 and believe this is the first public offering of any 1889-S at the Gem level.

    This delightful Gem displays pinpoint definition on all design elements and radiant frosty mint luster highlights both sides. The bright yellow and rose-gold surfaces show only the most insignificant signs of contact and eye appeal is terrific. This coin is a "Must-Have" specimen for series specialists and Registry Set collectors. Population: 1 in 65, 0 finer (9/13).(Registry values: N1)
