    1890-CC Liberty Ten, MS63
Only One Finer Coin at PCGS

1890-CC $10 MS63 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The role of the ten dollar gold piece in the Western economy began to change in 1890. The big coins were used more often as currency reserves or to satisfy overseas obligations after this time, rather than circulating in local channels. As a result, the average grade of these coins is much higher than that of their counterparts from the 1870s and 1880s. From a smallish mintage of 17,500 pieces, the 1890-CC Liberty eagle is seen most often in AU or lower Uncirculated grades. However, although the surviving population probably numbers around 350-400 examples in all grades, coins in MS63 condition are still very rare.

This attractive Select specimen exhibits well-detailed design elements and vibrant mint luster throughout. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces show a scattering of minor contact marks that do little to affect the outstanding eye appeal. Population: 5 in 63, 1 finer (7/13).(Registry values: N4719)
