Description

1891-CC/CC Ten Dollar, MS63
FS-501, Repunched Mintmark

1891-CC/CC $10 FS-501 MS63 PCGS. CAC. Variety 4-C. Ex: Rian's Bequest. A small spike protrudes downward from Liberty's chin, and the second C in the mintmark is obviously repunched. The 1891-CC is the most plentiful Carson City ten dollar issue in high grades, but this variety is clearly scarcer than the date overall. Light orange-gold surfaces exhibit rolling mint frost and minor scattered abrasions. Small alloy spots are also seen. Well-struck, except for Liberty's middle curls, which are slightly soft. PCGS reports six numerically higher submissions for the 1891-CC eagle (11/21).
