Description

1891-CC Liberty Eagle, MS63
Repunched Mintmark, FS-501

1891-CC/CC $10 Variety 4-C, FS-501, MS63 NGC. CAC. The 1891-CC Liberty eagle is very scarce in MS63 condition, and finer coins are very rare. This coin shows an interesting repunched mintmark, with the remains of the undertype C easily seen protruding from the right side of the second C. The design elements are sharply detailed and a diagonal spike is seen in the field below Liberty's jaw. The lustrous orange-gold surfaces show some grade-consistent minor contact marks and a die crack is evident through stars 1-5. Census: 6 in 63, 1 finer (1/18).
