FS-801, Tripled Die Reverse
1892-CC $10 Tripled Die Reverse, FS-801, AU58 PCGS. CAC. Variety
1-A. All 1892-CC eagles were struck by the same reverse die,
which exhibits die tripling on IN GOD WE TRUST. The 9 in the date
is repunched below the central loop. The 1892-CC has a lower
mintage (just 40,000 pieces) than its 1891-CC predecessor, and is
significantly rarer in Mint State. The present inoffensively
abraded and well-struck Borderline Uncirculated representative has
sun-gold color with orange-red toning in protected regions.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 266W, Variety PCGS# 511600, Base PCGS# 8722, Greysheet# 351851)
