Description

1892-CC Eagle, FS-801, MS61
Tripled Die Reverse, Colorful Rims

1892-CC $10 Tripled Die Reverse, FS-801, MS61 PCGS. Variety 1-A. Ex: Rian's Bequest. The ball of the 9 in the date is over the space between two dentils, and tripling is clear on the reverse motto. This late Carson City eagle issue claims one of the highest mintages in the series with 40,000 coins. About 2% of those likely exist, though only 42 to 50 pieces qualify for a Mint State assessment, per Rusty Goe (2020). Attractive gunmetal and reddish accents appear peripherally on this frosty, wheat-gold eagle. Strongly struck from the centers to the rims. Population: 16 in 61, 22 finer (11/21).
From The Rian's Bequest Collection.
