Description

1892-CC FS-501 Eagle, MS62
Tripled Die Reverse

1892-CC $10 Tripled Die Reverse, FS-801, MS62 PCGS. Winter 1-A. In 1892, the focus of the United States mints was on the inaugural Barber coinage, minor denominations, a moderate production of silver dollars, and the first Columbian Exposition commemorative half dollars. Amid these efforts, only 40,000 ten dollar gold pieces were minted in what was the penultimate year for the Carson City Mint. As a result, the 1892-CC is much scarcer in Mint State than the preceding year 1891-CC. This peach-gold example is lightly abraded save for a vertical milling mark on the cheekbone. The reverse exhibits die tripling on the Motto, as always for the issue. STATES is nicely die doubled. Population: 27 in 62 (2 in 62+), 3 finer (3/25).
