Description

1892-S Eagle, MS64
Likely Condition Census for the Issue
Extreme Condition Rarity

1892-S $10 MS64 PCGS. A PCGS CoinFacts plate coin. Few examples of this San Francisco date returned from European sources, and the recent Saddle Ridge hoard yielded but a single lower-grade Mint State coin, leaving this exceptional example among the finest known of the issue. Frosted on the obverse and semiprooflike on the reverse, this lustrous, sun-gold coin is boldly struck and attractive. Only a few tiny marks exist, appropriate for the assigned grade.

PCGS and NGC have certified just four MS64 examples combined, with a single MS65 coin at PCGS the only one finer at either service. Heritage has never before offered an MS64 example. PCGS population: 3 in 64, 1 finer (7/14).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 266Y, PCGS# 8724, Greysheet# 9515)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
