Description

1894 Ten Dollar, MS63
Lustrous, Appealing Surfaces

1894 $10 MS63 PCGS. The 1894 is among the most common dates of this type and it is a generic issue in grades through MS64.

This date remains rare in MS65, but a quick look at auction records shows the danger of buying common coins in uncommon grades. When this date had a population of one with none finer, the sole Gem 1894 eagle sold at auction in the Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2011), lot 5430, for $26,450. But the second coin to achieve this grade sold twice in 2019; once for $7,800 (in May) and again in September for $4,560.

This collectible MS63 piece displays sharp detail and rich orange-gold luster. Only a few light contact marks are in effect.
