Description

1895 Liberty Eagle, MS65+
Tied for Finest at PCGS

1895 $10 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. The 1895 Liberty eagle is readily available through MS63, but Choice representatives become suddenly scarce. The two leading certification services combined list only eight pieces in MS65 or finer and, at PCGS, this Plus-designated Gem is tied with one other for the finest (6/16). With such a low high-grade population, the availability of this issue falls far behind that of most later Philadelphia emissions from the 1890s.

This piece displays razor-sharp design elements set against frosty green-gold surfaces that are beautifully devoid of bothersome abrasions. Cartwheel luster shimmers over each side when rotated beneath a light, and the corresponding eye appeal is almost captivating. An ideal combination of type-coin quality and conditional rarity. Population: 4 in 65 (2 in 65+), 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 65, 0 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2678, PCGS# 8732, Greysheet# 9416)
