Description
A Fabulous Gem 1895-S Eagle--The Undisputed Finest Known
1895-S MS 65 PCGS. A scarce and often overlooked issue, the '95-S is a significant collector coin in AU condition, and mint state pieces are very rarely seen. In gem condition, this is one of the most important individual coins known from the 1890s. This coin is unchallenged as the finest known with the only pieces even close in grade being a pair of NGC MS 64s. This is a splendid coin. The fields have a faint semi-prooflike glimmer that intensifies the rose and lilac colored golden surfaces. Each side is virtually unmarked, the most obvious surface blemish being a tiny spot of grease that was struck into the planchet below the point of the chin of Liberty.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 267A, PCGS# 8734, GSID# 9522)
