Description

1896 Ten Dollar, MS64
Just One Finer at NGC and PCGS

1896 $10 MS64 NGC. Only 76,270 eagles were minted 1896, a negligible number compared to most other P-Mint issues from the 1890s. In the last two decades, many Uncirculated examples have been repatriated from European bank vaults, though these are typically found in MS60 to MS62, and near-Gems are rare. This piece exhibits lustrous, orange-gold surfaces with lilac overtones. The devices are sharply detailed and abrasions are minimal. Census: 22 in 64, 1 finer (6/14).(Registry values: N2998)
