Description

Conservatively Graded 1896-S Ten, MS61

1896-S $10 MS61 PCGS. When Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth published their gold tome in 2006, they noted that not a single 1896-S eagle grading finer than MS62 had appeared at auction. This coin is not an MS63, but it is a pleasing example, considering the assigned grade. Potent luster and peach-gold coloration add to the eye appeal. Housed in an older generation PCGS green label holder. Population: 13 in 61, 56 finer (12/08).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 267C, PCGS# 8736, Greysheet# 9523)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
