Description

1897 Ten Dollar, MS65
Thick, Frosty Luster

1897 $10 MS65 NGC. The 1897 eagle is readily available in the MS60 to MS63 grade range, but the certified population declines significantly in MS64 and this date becomes a condition rarity at the Gem level. This example is boldly struck, with frosty luster in shades of rose and green-gold. A few small alloy spots are noted, one on the reverse near the olive leaves and two on the obverse near star 13 and on Liberty's cheek. Census: 22 in 65 (1 in 65+), 6 finer (4/15).(Registry values: N4719)
