    Conditionally Rare 1898 Eagle, MS66

    1898 $10 MS66 NGC. The 1898 eagle is a common date with a mintage of 812,197 coins, but it is an extremely rare issue in Premium Gem or finer grades. In fact, the average certified grade for this date barely reaches MS61, and NGC has only graded 37 pieces finer than MS64. The strike is bold with every individual detail intricately defined, with the sole exception of the leaves on the reverse. The surfaces are fully brilliant and lustrous with intense yellow and orange-gold color. It is an amazing piece that will delight the connoisseur. Census: 5 in 66, 2 finer (5/08).(Registry values: N4719)
