1899 Eagle, Lustrous MS65+
Fully Struck Example
1899 $10 MS65+ PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint made a series of
incredibly well-struck gold coins in the waning years of the 19th
century and the first of the 20th. This 1899 eagle is one such,
showing a full strike on honey-gold, highly lustrous surfaces with
no mentionable marks. A couple of darker toning spots are possibly
due to improper alloy mixing, but in any case they are not
bothersome. Population: 40 in 65 (5 in 65+), 5 finer
(10/14).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 267J, PCGS# 8742, GSID# 9420)
