Description

Rare Select 1900-S Liberty Ten

1900-S $10 MS63 NGC. Although the 1901-S is the most common issue of the series, its immediate San Francisco predecessor is the scarcest issue from its decade. The closest competitor is the 1905-S, which has more than twice the NGC Census in Mint State. A Saint-Gaudens twenty of similar conditional rarity would sell for perhaps $50,000, but the present piece should prove much more affordable. This is a well struck representative that boasts booming luster and unabraded butter-gold fields. The lower cheek has subtle marks, and a few minute aqua specks are noted near star 12. Census: 6 in 63, 5 finer (6/10).(Registry values: N2998)
