Description
High End MS64+ 1900-S Liberty Ten
Important Conditional Rarity
1900-S $10 MS64+ NGC. CAC. The 1901-S is well known as the
most common Liberty eagle issue in higher Mint State grades. But
most collectors are unaware that its San Francisco predecessor is
very scarce in Uncirculated grades, and in fact is more often
encountered with light to moderate wear. Above the MS63 level, the
1900-S becomes one of the rarest later Liberty issues. NGC has
certified five pieces in higher grades, but we suspect a few of
those reflect resubmissions. We also believe that the present
high-grade example is among the finest known for the issue, which
has a mintage of just 81,000 pieces. An intricately struck
yellow-gold near-Gem with dynamic luster and uncommonly smooth
surfaces.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 267N, PCGS# 8746, Greysheet# 9529)
