Description

Spectacular MS65 1901-S Ten Dollar

1901-S $10 MS65NGC. The star designation represents superior eye appeal for the grade, and that is immediately obvious when one views this piece. The fields appear to have been struck either from polished dies or the planchet was polished prior to striking. The obverse is fully prooflike and the reverse is just a bit less so. Star 13 is the only area that prevents a full strike designation. The warm, orange-gold surfaces show a few minor marks, which seem unjustly magnified in importance by the bright prooflike fields. One of only two pieces given the ★ designation at the MS65 level with five other ★ coins in MS66 and 67 grades (8/07).(Registry values: N2998)
