Description

1903-O Eagle, Conditionally Rare MS64

1903-O $10 MS64 PCGS. Variety 2. The 1 in the date centered between denticles attributes this variety. The 1903-O ten dollar, from a production of 112,771 pieces, is the most common New Orleans eagle, yet Garrett and Guth say, "MS63 examples are not too difficult to locate, but anything finer is a great rarity." Intense luster radiates from both sides of this MS64 example, which displays soft yellow-gold and rose patination. All design elements are well brought up, further enhancing the coin's pleasing eye appeal. A few minuscule marks preclude Gem classification. PCGS and NGC have each certified just one coin in a higher numeric grade. PCGS population: 20 in 64, 1 finer (7/14).(Registry values: N2998)
