Superb Gem 1903-S Ten
Tied for Finest Certified

1903-S $10 MS67 NGC. A mintage of 538,000 ten dollar gold pieces was accomplished at the San Francisco Mint in 1903. While modest when compared to production totals of other denominations of the period, the mintage was quite generous in the context of the series. The issue was not heavily circulated at its time of issue. The date makes a superlative type coin, and examples are prized by series enthusiasts and Registry Set collectors as well.
The present coin is certainly one of the finest survivors of this popular date, and it shares the title of finest certified with seven other examples seen by the leading grading services (2/10). The striking details are needle-sharp throughout, and the flawless fields display vibrant mint luster. This piece is an appropriate choice for the finest collection of Liberty Head eagles.
