First-Year Issue 1906-D Ten Dollar, MS65
Conditionally Elusive
1906-D $10 MS65 NGC. The first Denver Mint eagle was coined
in 1906, with a total mintage that approached 1 million coins. We
have only handled a dozen Gem or finer examples of the 1906-D eagle
in the last 17 years, attesting to its importance as a condition
rarity. This piece is boldly detailed with rich yellow-gold luster
and excellent aesthetic appeal. A couple of small depressions in
the right obverse field are actually planchet depressions, present
in the planchet at the time of striking. Census: 23 in 65, 2 finer
