Description

Conditionally Scarce 1907-D Eagle, MS64

1907-D $10 MS64 NGC. The 1907-D was the second issue from the Denver Mint, and is the final Liberty Head eagle. This attractive piece has fantastic satiny luster that shimmers across the yellow-gold surfaces. Several light marks are noted on the obverse, but the reverse is remarkably clean. The strike is sharp, and the eye appeal is excellent. Garrett and Guth (2006) write that while the mintage of more than a million pieces makes this issue seem common, it is actually fairly scarce in most grades. At the time of writing, they reported that no MS65 examples had been auctioned since 1994, but in our April 2006 auction we sold a Gem for nearly $11,000. This conditionally scarce piece would make a wonderful addition to any collection. (Registry values: N1793)
