Description
1841 Eagle, MS61
Rarely Seen in Uncirculated
1841 $10 MS61 PCGS. The 1841 eagle is similar in overall
rarity to the 1840 but it is more available in higher grades. An
estimated five to six pieces exist in Uncirculated with the finest
the PCGS MS63 sold by Heritage for $48,000 as lot 4224 in the Long
Beach Signature (2/2018). There are two known in PCGS MS62: the
Warren Miller coin which realized $18,700 back in October 1995, and
a coin sold by Heritage in May 2003 for $12,650.The Jacobson coin appears to be fresh to the market and presents the advanced collector with an opportunity to acquire a Condition Census 1841 eagle. The design elements are sharply detailed and the lustrous apricot-gold surfaces are lightly marked for the grade. It should be noted that the last auction appearance for a PCGS-certified MS61 of this date occurred nine years ago when Heritage sold a piece for $12,650 in the Chicago Signature (8/2011), lot 7606.
