    Description

1863-S $10 -- Cleaned -- ANACS. VF20 Details. The 1864-S is the greatest rarity of the No Motto series, but its 1863-S predecessor is also highly elusive. From the mintage of 10,000 pieces, PCGS estimates only 40 to 60 pieces are known. The present yellow-gold example is glossy from a thorough wipe. Noticeable marks are limited to a minor obverse rim knock at 10 o'clock.

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
